The effects of social support on acceptance of disability for industrially injured workers

Abstract

|
he purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of social support and stress coping which related with acceptance of disability, and provide an evidence for effective rehabilitation program for industrially injured workers. For this purpose, 108 workers who injured in industrial situation and agreed with purpose of study with request for help form were participated through Korean Association of People Injured on Worksites and groups of injured workers.
The results of analyzed data were as follows: Supportive environment and personal mechanism for coping the stress have significant effects on acceptance of disability of industrially injured workers. Especially, stress coping ability has a mediation effect on relation between social support and acceptance of disability. Thus, psychological support for enhancing the stress coping ability were suggested as a factors that should have to consider in rehabilitation program for industrially injured workers as well as the method for enhancing the social support.
